BelgicaPress nu ook via UGent

The Royal Library of Belgium have digitised more than 3,5 million newspaper pages since 2006. Up till now, these could only be consulted in their reading room in Brussels. Today, from any computer on the UGent network (or via Athena), you can access all of their digitised historical Belgian newspapers (ranging from 1831 up to 1968) online via BelgicaPress.

Vanwege de erg grote interesse voor de hommage aan (en studienamiddag met) Leonard Nolens verhuist dit evenement naar een ruimere locatie. Het symposium en de uitreiking van het eredoctoraat door de UGent zal in de Oude Vismijn plaatsvinden (ipv de KANTL).

De Vlaamse dichter Leonard Nolens (1947) ontvangt het diploma van doctor honoris causa voor een indrukwekkend literair oeuvre dat in een halve eeuw tot stand is gekomen.



Full-time 4y PhD position in Comics Studies (French and/or British)

The PhD candidate is expected to work on child characters in French-language and/or British comics magazines (Tintin, Spirou, The Beano, The Dandy) from their inception in 1930s until the end of the Second World War. A keen interest in comics and a basic knowledge of comics studies and/or childhood studies is essential. The candidate will also be expected to actively participate in the COMICS team’s collective activities, including internal meetings, lecture series and conferences.

Eine ökopoetische Studie zeitgenössischer fiktional-narrativer Prosa auf Französisch, Italienisch, Deutsch und Englisch“ ein Vollzeitstipendium als Doktorand/in (1.10.2018-30.9.2022)

Doctoral Fellowship in (Byzantine) Greek Literature

The Greek Section of the Department of Literary Studies of Ghent University is seeking one well-qualified research fellow at the level of PhD student. The successful candidate will work in the framework of a project on the reception of the Psalms as poetry in late antique and Byzantine literature. The project is generously funded by the Flemish Research Foundation (FWO) and involves the collaboration of a team of scholars affiliated with several institutions: Ghent University (prof. Floris Bernard, prof. Kristoffel Demoen, dr. Rachele Ricceri), KU Leuven (prof. Reinhart Ceulemans), the Austrian Academy of Sciences (PD dr. Andreas Rhoby, dr. Anna Gioffreda).
